Design Work for Matrix Theatre Company: Detroit, Michigan
Since 2020, I have worn many hats at Matrix Theatre Company, including graphic design and brand management. My role involves creating assets and marketing materials, as well as ensuring that all collaborators' designs align with Matrix's overall branding and visual identity. Matrix Theatre Company operates two distinct branches that require unique and intentional aesthetic approaches: The School of Theatre and Professional Productions. Across both branches, my work ensures that Matrix Theatre Company’s visuals remain consistent, engaging, and reflective of its mission to inspire, educate, and transform through theatre.
Professional Productions and Programming require a more refined and purposeful design approach. Each production’s marketing materials are carefully crafted to capture the mood, tone, and essence of the performance. Through thoughtful imagery, typography, and composition, the designs aim to engage audiences, spark curiosity, and communicate the story's emotional impact. Whether it’s a poster, program, or social media graphic, every element is clean, intentional, and aligned with Matrix Theatre’s professional standards.
In contrast, the design work for the School of Theatre, strikes a balance between professionalism for parents and guardians and playfulness to attract younger audiences. Vibrant colors, engaging typography, and inviting layouts ensure that the materials are both clear and visually exciting, reflecting the energy and creativity of youth programs while remaining accessible and informative for adults.
